March is in the Miramichi and it's getting greener!The new
Board of Directors of the Miramichi Chamber of Commerce held their inaugural meeting on March 16th. Mayor Cormier
was in attendance to conduct the swearing in of the oath of office for all members.
Earth Hour 2010 will take place
March 27th at 8:30 pm. In March 2009, a total of 288 Canadian Municipalities (4,000 municipalities
worldwide) and over half of all adult Canadians participated in Earth Hour. We can as a Business Community
engage our staff and customers in this world wide initiative. We can make a difference.
We will be hosting a presentation
on April 20th at the Goodie Shop at 12 noon from the Ministry of Defense from Lieutenant Colonel Jocelyn Paul regarding
the Afghanistan Mission. Lieutenant-Colonel Jocelyn Paul recently returned from Afghanistan, where he served as Commander of
the 2nd Battalion Royal 22e Régiment Battle Group in Kandahar Province from April to October 2009.
This speaker will provide you with a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the counter-insurgency struggle taking
place in this conflict-stricken region. Through his experiences, you will also learn how Canadian Forces
are working to assist the Afghans in sustaining a more secure environment in order to facilitate development, reconstruction
and law and order.
The Lieutenant-Colonel will speak on combat operations as
well as the advances being made by Canadian soldiers in spite of the difficult conditions in the heart of Kandahar Province.
