A new definition of success!On
March 29th, Former Prime Minister, Paul Martin, was in Rexton announcing a new Entrepreneurial Mentorship Program
for First Nations Students. New Brunswick is the first Atlantic Province to host the Mentorship Program. Rexton along with
Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Prince Rupert, Edmonton, Regina and Winnipeg are the only other Host communities for this project in
Canada. This program mentors students in the Business Program and actually funds a specific amount of money to start a business.
Lawrence Keoughan, Superintendent of District 16 believes the new Mentorship Program will help reduce dropout rates and help
to motivate students to continue their education.
On March 31st, the Miramichi Chamber of
Commerce Board of Directors was pleased to host a presentation from St. Thomas University President and Vice Chancellor Dennis
Cochrane. The presentation focused on a feasibility study that will look at opportunities that may exist for our community
to enhance education standards.
Northumberland Co-op who has been in operation in the Miramichi since the 1940’s
and employs approximately 300 individuals have shown a positive increase in sales in the past year 2009.
This is a local company that continues to prove that small enterprises are the CORNERSTONE of a community.
We need to remind ourselves as business leaders that SUCCESS IS FAILURE TURNED
INSIDE OUT!
