May in the Miramichi

The Rotary club of Chatham hosted the Paul Harris Award Evening May 1st to celebrate the volunteers in the Miramichi. Service Above Self Recipients were: Vocational Service Heather Maynes, Paul Harris Fellowships were presented to Jerry Donahue, Judy Losier, and Gerard Losier all Well Deserved!

Carrefour Beausoleil, Grade 6 Students were honored with a thousand dollar prize for their entry in the NB Power Conservation Challenge. The project was entirely paperless with the focus on energy conservation, sustainable energy ideas and ways NB Power can inform consumers about energy practices. A tree will be planted and solar calculators will be purchased with the money. NB Power also supplied the students with a biodegradable green pen. Our Earth will be more efficient with this stewardship in place. 

The Rotary Club of Newcastle held a coffee hour to HONOR their Paul Harris Fellow on Thursday May6th, at the Seaman’s Hospital. Honored were Dr. Tiffany Keenan and Cheryl Brown. The Charter was presented to MVHS Interac Club with President Taylor Kelly and Secretary Mary Allen. This new young service group boasts 23 members. Youth are the seeds of our community to nurture.

 Spring Construction on King George Highway and Pleasant Street will cause traffic interruptions but the long term rewards will be in place by Fall.
